The 11th edition of Slow Fashion Next will be held on June the 6th and 7th to bring together the sector’s committed players in the heart of Madrid’s Real Jardín Botánico. This annual meeting reaffirms the global community’s commitment to more sustainable practices to safeguard our planet.
Since sustainable fashion is no longer an option but a necessity, this event aims to demonstrate this by bringing together professionals from all walks of life: students, manufacturers, farmers and designers, symbolising the essential union needed to rethink the fashion industry.
“The diversity of the participants guarantees a rich sharing of experience, ideas and innovative solutions. This event is a unique opportunity to talk directly to pioneers of change“, explains Gema Gómez, founder of Slow Fashion Next.
The event will focus on a number of themes:
Eco-design and the circular economy
The programme includes discussions on reducing waste and reusing materials. Best practice in eco-design will be explored to help fashion brands minimise their environmental impact.
Innovation in materials and processes
The latest technological advances revolutionising the production of materials will be unveiled. The importance of responsible management of natural resources and the beneficial impact of materials such as wool and linen will also be highlighted.
Transformation of the sector
A collective reflection on the need to radically transform the sector, with a focus on ethics, transparency and sustainability as pillars of the fashion industry.
Waste management and legislation
An overview of the challenges associated with waste management and new legislation promoting more sustainable practices will be presented.
Support for start-ups and micro-enterprises
The importance of small entities in the dynamism and transformation of the industry will be highlighted, recognising their crucial role in innovation and the promotion of sustainable practices.
Creativity, local production and regeneration
The focus will be on how local creativity and production can contribute to more sustainable fashion, strengthening the links between designers, manufacturers and communities.
Well-being through fashion
The event will also explore how fashion can positively influence physical and mental well-being, by adopting practices that are beneficial to the health and balance of individuals.
This year’s event promises to be particularly rewarding, offering every participant not only the chance to learn more but also to actively contribute to a more sustainable future for the fashion industry, all in a convivial setting of cafés and cocktails.
